Dunno if this has been covered b4 my time? Just finished winding on 2.5KMs of braid onto 2 game reels in preperation for a tuna or three next month, & talking of line over a frothy......... again. What braid do you run on your reels,Baitcast & Threadline? On my baitcasters i run Finns 30lb & fireline 20lb. both lines about 5-6 years old. Game reels wear 50LB FinnsPRT. Gummy reels loaded with 40LB Finns PRT. on threadies,I run Fireline in 4,6,8,10,& a 20lb .I find fireline in the smaller lb's to pack on spools better & not create as many wind knots.Go over 30 in fireline & it turns to fenceing wire, then I head to the thinner Finns. I know theres better & more expensive stuff out there, just interested to see what others run? Hodgy

Have used fins mostly in 30lb, 20lb and 15lb but recently bought a spool of Berkley Whiplash and have been using it for a season on two b/casters and love it. Its 30lb but has about the same diametre as the 20lb fins. Bit cheaper too! Only other fishing I really do is the occasional Surf fishing trip to SA and I favour 30lb pre test Platypuss mono, very stretching ang forgiving

I have always used Finns, but have been thinking about trying Berkley Whiplash soon on one of my reels.
Anyone here used Berkley Whiplash before?

Have been using Fins mostly for a few years now and can't fault it. Was checking the different braids out yesterday and Mick, have used Harro's stuff early on and found it great, just find it a hard to justify the difference in price (tightarse) Buzzo

Buzzo , I did have my reels spooled with Finns but found it just about removed the skin from my fingers after a big day of madly flicking lures of snags . Not a good thing when your snagging up as often as I do ,especially when ya gotta go again the next day . Harro's is like using sorbent extra soft compared to no name recycled .

suffix for me from 6-14lb then finns thereafter, personally found harros too soft but just as strong. that many good ones outthere these days it's hard to go wrong unless you buy power pro or firewire of course.

Yeah finns (original) for me too. 50lb don't get out fishin enough to be snagged enough to get sore fingers! Like the stuff was HEAPS better than the fireline I started with. Got some japanese stuff off Jeremy a few years ago while I was in Canberra was good enough but cannot remember what brand it was. My main troubles is with the leader and not so much the line now.

I had trouble with my leader and then I went to Penn 10X and havn't looked back. Its great stuff and good for tying knots.

Im Using Yamatoyo Femmel Braid in 30lb its sky blue in colour and holds up great has hardly lost any colour at all. The japanese braid is more expensive but the extra dollars seem to be well worth it.

Finns is very good, use it on most reels, i would never go back to fireline Last 12months been using Line System Bass Hard PE braid on the Loomis rods, this stuff is about $70 per spool but it is the best I have ever used. Available in orange or green. Also been trying some Sun Line PE braid on the lighter rods seems ok too, it is about $35 a spool.

Good fellas, there seems to be a wide variety used over the # of replys. There certainly is some junk, & great stuff out there in fisho world, but spend a bit more coin(& not a great deal more..) a decent line can be purchased.
