I fired a few questions their way and they seemed more that happy to answer them, got some good info on a couple streams i'd never realy thought about fishing untill now too
Anyway, we got to talking about weirs & fish ladders, i asked if cod used them much and the guys said they had just spent 24hours at the wentworth weir and in that 24 hours they had trapped 5 cod over the meter mark that had traveled up through the ladder
They also told me about some reserch on weirs that spill over the top and weir that poor from under the wall, they have found fish/fry that travel under the weir often get killed but the ones that go over the top most often live, even if they land in very shallow water on the other side, they claim this reserch will effect how future weirs are built
