Ready to go....i think!

Postby dave009 » Sat Jul 03, 2010 6:38 pm

Well after a bit of good advice and trolling through (terrible pun!) old posts i went an purchased some cod fishing gear, as follows
- Shimano Blue Water Meduim Spin Rod 6"6 8-12kg class
- Penn Prestige 8000 Reel
- 14lb Berkley line
- 30lb Berkley braid
- Murray monster lure retriever (how the hell do these work exactly :D)
- Oar Gee 105mm Lure
- Oar Gee 75mm Lure
- Stumpjumper 105mm Lure
- Stumpjumper 75mm Lure
- Stumpjumper 55mm Lure
- Killalure 55mm Lure
- Berkley 55mm Surface Popper
- Aus Spin Twin Spinnerbait
- Tassie Devils cause they were on special :D

What am i missing you guys???

Cheers
Dave

With the lure retreiver attach some cord to the end of it, wrap your line in through the cork screw like devices on the side and send to the bottom where you lure is snagged. You may need to lift and drop a couple of times to knock it free.Just make sure you keep you line tight while you do it.

But you look like you have everything else pretty much covered  You could Maybe add a couple of Bigger Trolling lures maybe a Koolabung or AC Invader in the 120mm and above range.
a bad days fishing is still better
than a goods days work!!!!

Get out the backyard and start casting at some bucket sized targets for practice .
Landing your lure in the right spot without birdsnesting consistantly can make all the difference
Ya can't catch fish in your lounge room ...

Well thats the thing chasing cod may only be a once or twice a year thing, the penn reel i think should handle anything i throw at it and as i was thinking i could use this set up in the salt water as well where i do lots of baitfishing so thought the baitcaster may be a bit wasted.

cheers
