Rising River

Postby 399 Pro » Thu Jul 22, 2010 3:28 pm

Anybody know why the Murray River has suddenly risen.
I was up Barham Way a month ago & it was low @ 1.1m
Now I've noticed on the Daily river reports website its over 3m
Can anyone shed any light as to why ?
I did hear that above Yarrawonga there is plenty of water.
Cheers

not exactly sure, but with the works going on at mildura this week it may be the water required to fill it back up mid august.

We got 25mm in Albury area last week but there were flood warnings for the upper Murray, as well as minor flood warnings for the Ovens etc.
All the water above Hume (think they got 100mm plus) would be kept here, anything else that flows into the Kiewa and Ovens would have gone straight thru Yarrawonga and down the River.
I also noticed Tocumwal was pretty high but not really sure why they are pushing it all down.
