Lure retriever

We all know how annoying it is to lose our favourite lure to a snag at the bottom of a river or lake. So, we have designed and built a lure retriever that will help you keep your favourite lure swimming forward for another day, in hope of catching that big one.

This lure retriever will save you thousands of dollars in lost tackle. It even works in deep water, on spinnerbaits and hard-bodied lures and with monofilament and gel spun lines. It has gone through various design stages and prototypes and has become a fine-tuned, tackle saving device.

Why is it different from other lure retrievers?

Unlike other lure retrievers, our lure retriever uses a specially designed, chrome-plated, spring steel continuous wire (as shown in the photo, click the photos to enlarge) to attach your line to the lure retriever. The main advantages of this unique design are:

• It's quick, easy and simple to use
• It won't damage monofilament or Gel spun fishing lines
• It prevents the lure retriever twisting around the line and causing tangles
• There are no sharp edges to damage your tackle

The lure retriever is made from quality stainless steel and chrome plated steel to prevent rusting. The retriever has been designed with two key lure retrieving ideas in mind. The first principal is that of weight. The weight of the lure retriever, results in a 99% de snag rate. In case this fails to work, a secondary principal has been implemented, that is the use of chrome-plated chain hanging from the base of lure retriever.

If the lure is not freed from the snag by the weight of the device, then the chains will tangle themselves with the trebles on your lure and you can pull your lure free. This may result in a bent treble, but an intact lure with a bent treble is better than a 20-dollar lure at the bottom of a river or lake.

Using the Lure retriever

To use the lure retriever you need to tie some cord to the “loop” of wire at the top of the device. The length of the cord depends on the depth of the water you fish. If you fish in water 3-4 metres deep, use around 5 or 6 metres of cord. If you fish in water 10+ metres deep, use 12 or more metres of cord and so on.

The lure retriever costs $20.00 AU plus $6.00 AU for postage and handling (within Australia - will post overseas, please contact via email if overseas). (Which is less than the price of two lures, so all you have to do is use this twice, just twice! And it will have paid for itself). Or the large version for water depths greater than 20ft, is $28 + $10 postage and handling.
